Dzmitry Palijenka

Dzmitry Palijenka was detained on March 20, 2019 on suspicion of committing a crime under part 3 of Article 339 of the Criminal Code (“Extremely gross misconduct”). He was accused of pepper spraying a drunk man at the entrance of the block of flats where the activist was expecting a friend. The man tried to warn him against smoking and initiated the conflict. Only a week later the police raided Dzmitry’s flat and detained him.

Svyatoslav Baranovich

Svyatoslav Baranovich is an active resident of Minsk who was detained on October 2, 2017 on suspicion of using violence against a policeman. On March 15, 2017 a group of anarchists joined the march against the tax on unemployment. At the end of the demonstration, plain-cloth police tried to detain a few activists when the bloc was hopping to get on a trolley-bus. Ordinary people who stood nearby started pushing with cops trying to not let them make arrests. Svyatoslav Baranovich was one of them and punched a cop.

Kara Wild

Kara Wild is an artist, comrade and resilient force of nature, currently being detained in France for her alleged participation in a protest against draconian labor reforms and police repression. She is a trans woman and is currently being held in a men’s jail. She is also a U.S. citizen and has been denied bond because French authorities consider her a flight risk.

Janye Waller

Janye is an outspoken young Black revolutionary from the San Francisco Bay Area. Janye was arrested in 2015 in an obvious case of racial profiling, in which the cops said he “fit the description” of a crime he did not commit.

Christopher Monfort

Monfort is accused of waging a one-man war against the Seattle police in the fall of 2009.

On October 22, 2009, police vehicles parked in a vehicle maintenance yard in Seattle were firebombed. Several vehicles were destroyed and many damaged in the action. A communique was issued days later tying the incident to the beating of a young girl held in custody by Seattle Police.

Andrew (Andy) Mickel

Andy is a former resident of Springfield, Ohio. He graduated from Springfield’s North High School in 1998 and went on to serve three years with the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division before attending Evergreen State College and becoming a journalist with Indymedia.org.  In December 2001, he went to Israel with a pro-Palestinian activist group pushing for an end to Israeli occupation. The following summer, he went to Colombia, South America, to study nonviolent resistance, and to Northern Ireland.

Joy Powell, Reverend

Joy is a prominent Black community activist serving 25 years to life after being framed on two separate cases.

Background

As a pastor and a consistent activist against police brutality, violence and oppression in her community, Rev. Joy Powell was warned by the Rochester Police department that she was a target because of her speaking out against their corruption through her organization, 'Equality and Justice for All.' On many occasions, Rev. Joy had held rallies and spoke out against the police brutality and “police justifications” in Rochester, NY.
