On Thursday, February 7th, 2019, at 4:40 in the morning, the evacuation of the squat “Asilo occupato” (“the occupied kindergarten”) in Via Alessandria 12 in Turin, which has been occupied since 1995, began. The evacuation was carried out as part of the “Operazione Scintilla” (“Operation Funke”). Several hundred carabinieri in combat uniforms, police officers and customs officers with machine guns and civil servants not only cleared the house, but also arrested six anarchists, all of whom have since been released (July 2020).
Claudio is one of seven anarchists arrested in Italy, Spain and France on June 12, 2020, while the Bencivenga Occupato anarchist squat in Rome and some homes were searched. Two people were placed under house arrest, while five others were detained in prison.
Dr. Issam Hijjawi Bassalat is a Palestinian medical doctor who has lived in Edinburgh, Scotland, since 2010. He was targeted by an MI5 infiltrator to attend a bugged meeting with members of Saoradh, an Irish republican socialist political party that advocates for an end to British colonialism and a united Ireland. He was detained on 22 August at Heathrow Airport on the same day that nine members of Saoradh were also arrested by British forces.
Loïc was arrested on 8/19/18 on an EU fugitive warrant for G20 protest charges. They now also face imposition of suspended jail sentence for a French nuclear dump protest conviction.
The anonymous2-appeal-trial should take place in Paris on the 4th of December.
